Sustainable finance for all: why it is important and how can it be useful for us and our planet

LSFI

Beschreiwung:

The Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Initiative (LSFI), a no-profit organization, is Luxembourg coordinating entity in Sustainable Finance and a central point of contact and information for all sustainable finance actors in Luxembourg.

It was founded in 2020 by the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance, Luxembourg Ministry of Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development, Luxembourg for Finance and the High Council on Sustainable Development. These founding members are represented at the LSFI’s Board of Directors.

Our mission is to raise awareness, promote and help the financial sector further transition towards increased sustainability. The LSFI also elaborates and implements the Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Strategy. The LSFI Action Plan, which is described within the Strategy, is built around three main pillars: raising awareness and promotion, unlocking potential and measuring progress. Under each pillar fall different activities which help the LSFI fulfill its mission. In order to reach these objectives, the LSFI also works in close collaboration with existing Luxembourg-based sustainable finance stakeholders, such as finance industry associations, education, inclusive finance and civil society representatives.

Sustainable finance is a complex and fast evolving topic.

However, what it is exactly?

How does it involve me?

Why is it important?

The goal of this session is to raise awareness among school students of what sustainable finance is and why it is so important. It also seeks to show how each of us has a role to play through our daily actions, savings and investments in the sustainability journey.

Combining theory with examples and interactive activities, the session provides an introduction to key finance and sustainable finance concepts, gives insights on current sustainability issues such as climate change and how finance can help tackle them, and deep dives into the main sustainable investment products.

In order to ensure the session is dynamic and accessible for the students, the information will be explained in a simple and interactive way. In particular, there will be activities where the students will have to reply true-or-false to questions, and form pairs or groups to put into practice the theory learned, while discussing among them.
